Heritage No.1 Natural Paint Removal Poultice

Our best-selling natural and non-toxic paint remover for stripping lead, oil-based and enamel paints from brick, masonry, metal and timber.

Water soluble, with no chlorides, no fumes, no odour and no methylene chloride.

A 100-year-old proprietary paint stripping recipe, exclusively formulated by Let’s Clean.

Features & Benefits

  • Natural paint remover with poultice consistency.

  • Non-toxic, alkaline base with no methylene chloride.

  • Made from 50% recycled materials.

  • Best suited for paint stripping lead, oil-based and enamel paints from brick, masonry, metal and timber*.

  • Chloride free.

  • No fumes or odour.

  • No solvents or petroleum derivatives.

  • Can remove multiple layers of paint.

  • Easy application - trowel it on or spray it on with a hopper gun. The poultice consistency is ideal for adhering to surfaces, including ceilings.

  • Poultice consistency completely encapsulates the underlying layer/s of paint (and therefore the lead, in lead paints), so no particles, lead or fumes are released into the air when the poultice is removed.

  • Water soluble, easy removal - simply scrape or peel off the poultice to remove it and then wash/rinse away the paint and poultice residues with water. Thanks to its water solubility, there will be no greasy or sticky residues left behind.

  • Active ingredient is calcium hydroxide vs. sodium hydroxide (common in other paint strippers), which is better for repointing and tuck pointing of masonry after paint stripping.

  • 100-year-old proprietary recipe, exclusively formulated by Let’s Clean. If it’s not labelled as Let’s Clean, it’s not authentic - beware of imitations.

*May darken timber and wood surfaces due to its strong alkaline base. We recommend spot testing your surface if colour is a concern.

How to Use Heritage No.1

  1. Mix poultice thoroughly before use.

  2. Apply a thick coat (approximately 3mm) onto the surface to be stripped. You can trowel it on or spray it on with a hopper gun.

  3. Leave for 30 minutes to an hour, test with a scraper to determine if paint is sufficiently softened. Stripping time depends on the number of paint layers, age and type. If you feel the paint needs longer to soften or dissolve, the product may be left on for 24 hours or longer. Keep the poultice moist. In dry conditions, cover with cling wrap or plastic sheets.

  4. Remove poultice with a scraper or peel it off, collecting the waste in a bucket. Wash off paint and poultice residue with low to high pressure water or wash and scrub clean with a medium to hard brush.

  5. Repeat as necessary (removal of multi layers of paint may need multiple applications).

  6. We recommend all lead-based paints be removed by professionals. Disposal must be in accordance with state regulations.

Disclaimer: We always recommend spot testing your surface to ensure you have the right paint stripping product for the job.

The surface you’re removing paint from, the type of paint, how many layers of paint there are and whether the paint is exposed to the elements needs to be considered when choosing the correct paint stripper for your project. It is advisable to apply a test patch to see what works best.
